AURELIO J ALVES -- Cranston

84, of Cranston, formerly of Providence, were surrounded by his family as he peacefully entered the gates of Heaven on Tuesday, September 5, 2006.

He was the loving, devoted husband of Vivian (Faria) Alves. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Julio and Ludvinia (Delgado) Alves.

Mr. Alves had been employed by the City of East Providence, Parks Department before his retirement. He served as a merchant seaman during World War II. He is survived by two sons, Anthony and Robert, one daughter Vivian, and the late Jacqueline; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is the brother of Domingo, Inez and Joanne. Brother of the late Manuel, Anthony and John Alves. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veteran's Cemetery, Exeter, RI. His funeral services will be private. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701 or to the American Diabetes Association 222 Richmond St. Providence, RI 02903 in his memory.
