He was the son of the late Clara (Brito) and Joaquim do Livramento Jr. Born and raised in New Bedford, Mr. Livramento lived in various parts of the world as part of his military service, and later returned to reside in New Bedford. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Mr. Livramento served in the Air Force until his retirement as a master sergeant in 1974. During World War II, he served in the Army. After his retirement from the military, he was a letter carrier and served in the Merchant Marines. He was a member of the Cape Verdean-American Veterans Association, American Legion Post 166, Veterans of Foreign Wars Fort Phoenix Post 2892, and the Merchant Mariners Club. Survivors include two sons, Ronald A. Livramento and his wife, Geraldine, of New Bedford, and Donald A. Livramento and his longtime companion, Robin Hurley, of Fairhaven; two daughters, Marlene A. Souza and her husband, John Souza Jr., of Marion, and Darlene A. Andrade and her husband, Anthony, of Rumford, R.I.; two brothers, Antonio R. Brito of Lisbon, Portugal, and Edwin L. Livramento of New Bedford; three sisters, Elizabeth L. Duarte of New Bedford, Lillian L. Ramos of Acushnet, and Irene L. Wilson of Philadelphia; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Walter J. Livramento, Estelle "Stella" do Livramento, and Mary A. Fortes. His funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are by Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St. |
