WALLACE D. BRITTO ![]() NEW BEDFORD -- Wallace D. Britto, 55, of New Bedford died unexpectedly Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004, at home. He was the former husband of Joyce (Sokolski) Britto. Born in New Bedford, the son of Joseph L. Britto and Adeline (Fortes) Britto of New Bedford, he lived in this area all of his life. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Mr. Britto was a member of the Disabled American Veterans; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Andrews-Dahill Post; and the Verdean Veterans. He was a sergeant in the Army during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Bronze Star Meda He was an artist who painted and drew. He collected sports cards, coached Little League at Dias Field, and enjoyed playing pool and cards, especially high low jack, and playing bingo at Foxwoods. Survivors include his former wife; his parents; four sons, Wallace J. Britto, Jeffrey E. Britto and Paul M. Britto, all of New Bedford, and Russell Enos of Rotunda, Fla.; seven daughters, Tyree Ware of Cleveland, Candi White of Mansfield, Texas, and Chyla A. Britto, Jennifer L. Britto, Stephanie J. Britto, Samantha L. Britto and Yolanda Britto, all of New Bedford; two brothers, Alan J. Britto and Romeo D. Britto; two sisters, Bonita M. Pina and Bernice G. Diaz; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Christopher S. Britto and brother of the late Curtis A. Britto. His funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Arrangements are by Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. |
