JOSEPH R. BAPTISTA 

 WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Joseph R. Baptista, 60, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Onset, Mass., died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, in the Washington Veterans Medical Center after a long illness. 
 Born in Wareham, Mass., the son of Antonio and Charlotte (Lopes) Baptista of Onset, he lived in Onset for many years before moving to Washington. 
 He served in the Army from 1964-67. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. 
 Mr. Baptista had worked at Quincy Boat Yard. 
 Survivors include his parents; a brother, LeBaron Baptista, and his wife, Joan, of Junction City, Kan.; two nephews, Jeremy Baptista of Lawrence, Kan., and LeBaron Baptista II and his wife, Jennifer, of Leavenworth, Kan.; a niece, Kristen Baptista of Oakland, Calif.; two aunts, Sally Sequiera of Wareham and Demiciana Gomes and her husband, Antone, of New Bedford, Mass.; and an uncle, William Lopes of New Bedford. 
 His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Church, Onset Avenue, Onset. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. 
 Arrangements are by Stott, Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Route 28, Wareham.
