CHARLES W. COSTA 


 LOS ANGELES - Charles W. Costa, 57, of Los Angeles died unexpectedly at home Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005. 
 Born and raised in New Bedford, Mass., he was the son of Angelina (Pina) Costa of New Bedford and the late Charles “Toby” Costa. He lived in California for many years. 
 He graduated from New Bedford High School and from California State University at Los Angeles with a bachelor’s degree in business management. 
 Mr. Costa worked for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services. He previously worked for Postal Instant Press. 
 He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War; he received the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He also served in the Naval Reserve. 
 He enjoyed playing tennis and traveling. 
 Survivors include his mother; three sisters, Marlene L. Barros and Debra M. Costa, both of New Bedford, and Diane M. Hodge of South Dartmouth, Mass.; two brothers, Bruce J. Costa of Los Angeles and Michael Costa of Boston; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. 
 His funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Lawrence Church, New Bedford. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, New Bedford. 
 Arrangements are by Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
