Gabourel Jr., 56, of Taunton, Mass., died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Wareham, Mass., he was the son of the late Kenneth H. and Joanne (Pina) Gabourel Sr. He lived in Marion, Mass., for 14 years before he moved to Taunton. He graduated from Taunton High School in 1968 and from Johnson & Wales University. An Air Force veteran, he served during the Vietnam War. He was a quality control specialist for Defense Contract Administration Services in Providence for many years; he retired in 1995. Mr. Gabourel enjoyed playing tennis and bowling. Survivors include two daughters, Kendra Thomas of Oklahoma City and Aisha James of McAlester, Okla.; a stepson, Orlando Tasby of Columbus, Ga.; three stepdaughters, Renee Tasby of Oklahoma City, and Kim Thomas and Michelle Thomas, both of Norman, Okla.; seven brothers, Melvin Pina of Marion, Wayne Pina of Wareham, Paul Pina of Mattapan, Mass., Glenn Gabourel of Middleboro, Mass., Gary Gabourel of Massachusetts, Vincent Gabourel of Fall River, Mass., and Kevin Gabourel of Brockton, Mass.; a sister, Lisa Morris of Fall River; two aunts and two uncles; and many grandchildren. He was the stepfather of the late Kia Tasby. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Stott, Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Route 28), Wareham. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Mass. |
