He was the husband of Mariapilar (Calhoun) Lima and son of the late Roberto and Julia (Diaz) Lima. He was born in Harwich and was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. After 25 years service, Mr. Lima retired as a master sergeant from the Air Force. He served in the office of special investigations. He was a veteran of World War II, trained as a toxic-gas handler. He worked at New Bedford Social Services from 1970 to 1973. Mr. Lima received several awards, certificates and diplomas from organizations including the Defense Intelligence School, Washington, D.C.; the Corp. Learning Course, Civil Air Patrol; the Civil Air Patrol Certificate of Appreciation; the Paul E. Garber Award Certificate; Aerospace Award and was named an Otis Honorary Firefighter. He was a member of several organizations, including the Air Force Sergeants Association; Air Force Retired Officers; Lions Club; Knights of Columbus; Cape Verdean Veterans; Civil Air Patrol; Disabled American Veterans; Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Association of Retired Persons. Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Sandra C. Belt of Silver Spring, Md. and Shirley L. Chapman of San Diego, Calif.; a son, Warren Lima of New Bedford; a stepdaughter, Paulette Araujo of Lynn and two brothers, John Lima of Oakland, Calif. and Louis Lima of Marion. He also was the widower of Pearl K. (Coombs) Lima. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Church, Shore Road, Pocasset.
