PROVIDENCE -- Frank G. "The General" Babbitt, 58, of Julian Street died at Rhode Island Hospital Friday, Oct. 2, 1998. He was the son of Josephine (Pina) Santiago of Sacramento, Calif., and the late Charles Babbitt Sr.
Born in Providence, he lived in the city most of his life; previously, he lived in Wareham and New Bedford for a number of years.
He was a welder at Electric Boat for 12 years and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He was a Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include three daughters, Venus Babbitt of Providence, Carol Babbitt of Sacramento and Camile Babbitt of Ohio; two sons, Nicholas Babbitt of Ohio and Frank G. Babbitt Jr., of Sacramento; five brothers, Charles Babbitt and Edward Babbitt, both of Providence, William Babbitt and Manuel Babbitt, both of California, and Stephen Babbitt of Wakefield; five sisters, Linda Babbitt, Paula Williams and Donna Kendricks, all of California, Rene Rezendes of East Providence and Pauline Ramos of Providence.
The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Bell Funeral Home, 571 Broad St., which is handling the arrangements.
