He was the husband of Patricia (McMaon) Pina. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Maria (Barros) and Alfred "Nene" Pina. He was a former communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church, New Bedford. He was a graduate of New Bedford High School. Mr. Pina was employed at Arizona Public Service for 20 years as an engineer draftsman. He served in the Air Force from 1958 to 1962, including time served in Japan. He had a great love for music, hosted karaoke and sang songs for several years as "Fast Eddie." Survivors include his widow; two sons, Edwin Brian Pina of Baltimore and Edwin Pina Jr. of Chandler; two daughters, April Lynn Jones of Baltimore and Lorryn Marie Jacobs of Mesa; three sisters, Eva Coombs of Buzzards Bay, Mass., Anita Robinson of Mattapoisett, Mass., and Helen Jenkins of New Bedford; five brothers, Alfred Pina Jr. of East Providence, R.I., Manuel Pina of New Bedford, Frank Pina of Dartmouth, Mass., Richard Pina of Acushnet, Mass., and Dr. Burt Pina of Marion, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Antone "Mickey" Pina. His funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, New Bedford. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, New Bedford. Arrangements are by Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. |
