He was the husband of Francesca (Caton) Dias and son of Tony Dias of Wareham and the late Rose (Babbitt) Dias. Born in Wareham, he lived most of his life there until moving to Mashpee eight years ago. Mr. Dias was a disabled veteran, attaining the rank of specialist in the U.S. Army. He served from 1972 to 1975. He was employed by the United States Postal Service and was attending Cape Cod Community College for the last three years studying criminal justice. Mr. Dias was a friend of Bill Wilson, the founder of Alcoholics Anonymous. A little league coach for Mashpee, he loved music, sports and raising his children. He was also a member of the American Postal Workers Union. Survivors include his widow; his father; a son, Taed J. Dias of Mashpee; a daughter, Halle Rose Dias of Mashpee; three brothers, Dr. Antone Dias Jr. and Paul Dias, both of Newton, and Michael Dias of Los Angeles; a sister, Rose Dias of Newton; and several aunts, uncles and nephews. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Church, Wareham. Arrangements are by the Stott, Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway, Wareham. |
