Gomes Sr., 71, of Dorchester, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2000, at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the husband of Theresa M. (Silvia) Gomes. Born in West Wareham, son of the late Samuel and Julia (Lopes) Gomes, he lived in Randolph and Dorchester. Mr. Gomes worked for Briggs Engineering in Rockland for 23 years before becoming ill in 1985. He previously worked for Stone and Webber. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Mattapoisett Bowling league and enjoyed photography. Survivors include his widow; four sons, Frank L. Gomes Jr., Michael A. Gomes and Robert R. Gomes, all of Dorchester, and Kevin J. Gomes of Haverhill; two daughters, Penny M. Almeida of Sagamore and Theresa L. Gomes of Newton; three brothers, John J. Gomes and Albert J. Gomes, both of West Wareham and Antonio L. Gomes of Plymouth; a sister, Pauline G. Livramento of West Wareham; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; and nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Wayne Gomes and Dana Gomes. His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick's Church; burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, both Wareham.
