Beginners & non-beginners

Dates: Saturday 12 May & Wednesdays 16 May, 6 & 13 June 2012

These workshops, which are suitable for both beginners and non beginners will focus on developing a legible yet aesthetically pleasing script for  design applications or everyday use. We will use both monoline and broad pen instruments. Equipment will include a handmade calligraphy instrument  (complete calligraphy pen sets can be bought in class) I do hope many of you have seen ‘As it is in heaven’  where the scriptwriter elaborates on the unique song in each of us. Making this (maybe as yet unknown) song visible is what underlies these workshops

Writing, like living, is an experience,it is movement-both visible and invisible.

 It never leaves you untouched

In this one day workshop we will explore signs, symbols and mark making (and how we relate to them) in its widest form and you are invited to join the journey

in the serene surroundings of Aswater (also known as Bloemendal)

We will use monoline, square cut instruments and any other instrument that you may bring that can make a mark to create beautiful  shapes that convey meaning.

Since this is the first workshop on the farm, there is no cost involved. However, everyone will be asked to please contribute to the food table. Regretfully, only ten people can be accommodated in the workshop. Please visit the Prince Albert website for B&B’s in Klaarstroom (10 km from the farm) or Prince Albert (33km away) 4 people who are willing to ‘rough it’ on inflatable matrasses and sleeping bags are most welcome to stay at the (as yet very basic)  farm.
