About CV FFO

CANYON VIEW FAMILY FACULTY ORGANIZATION (FFO) is dedicated to supporting Canyon View students, families, and CV staff.  We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization led by dedicated parent volunteers.  We sponsor events, purchase curriculum items, and support programs that enrich each and every student’s educational experience.   100% of your donations go to support the students at Canyon View.

We are appealing to every family for tax-deductible direct donation of $ 100 per student to cover the $51,250 cost of MAINTAINING support to existing curriculum programs including Artist in Residence Programs, Field Trips, Teacher Grants and Funds, Assemblies and Family Events.   Please make your check payable to “Canyon View FFO”, write “Direct Donation” in the memo and send in your gift today with the donation form, donate on-line now, or donate and shop for other items:

** Please read CVFFO Expenses to understand how every dollar will be spent. **

HOW DOES MY STUDENT BENEFIT FROM THE FFO?

The FFO funds class field trips, enrichment programs including Artist in Residence, School Assemblies, classroom supplies not funded by the school district, teacher funds, staff appreciation lunches, Student Advisory Board (SAB), science activities, school beautification, library books and many fun events such as Ice Cream Socials, Jamaica Me Spooky, Pot Luck Dinner, and Talent Show.  For a complete list of this year’s events, please refer to School Calendar and CVFFO Expenses.

HOW ARE THESE ACTIVITIES FUNDED?

The FFO’s major fundraising efforts focus on Canyon View receiving 100% of the money raised and do not involve our students selling merchandise.  There are two types of fundraisers:  direct and indirect.  Direct giving, the two “A-Thon” FUNdraisers, and Silent Auction donations (tax deductible) are from the generosity of CV families.  Indirect donations are through business sponsored fundraising programs such as Box Tops for Education, e-Scrips (Safeway, Macy’s Card, etc), ink cartridge and metal recycling programs, Bashas’ Shop & Save (discount Thank You Card), Bashas’ Community Support Card (rechargeable gift card), and Albertson’s Partner Card program.

HOW ARE FFO DOLLARS ALLOCATED?
At every FFO meeting the Treasurer gives a financial report and provides a current copy of the annual budget.  The annual budget is proposed by the Executive Board and voted on by FFO members (CV parents and Staff).  Amendments to the budget are also voted on.  Meeting agendas, notices, and issues to be voted on are posted in advance.  Please see CVFFO Expenses.

HOW CAN I BE A MEMBER OF THE FFO?

All Canyon View parents, guardians, and staff are automatically members of the FFO.   You and your children are welcome to attend our monthly meetings and vote on important issues.   We have many committees that are active at different times of the year and require various levels of commitment.  Come to a meeting and find out what suits your schedule and interests.  If you are unable to attend meetings but would like to get involved, please complete the Canyon View Volunteer Form or contact one of the FFO officers.   We are always looking for new ideas and feedback.  Most meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday of every month @ 1:45 PM – 3:00 PM in the CARE Building.

Why I Should Give?

Catalina foothills School District's budget is funded from the Arizona State budget.  The amount allocated is the same for each student in every Arizona school. Currently, the allocated per pupil spending amount puts AZ near the bottom of all 50 states.  Keep in mind the majority of CFSD’s budget pays for staff (teachers being the number one resource). There are still many items and programs that need to be funded and in CFSD, this is done through four separate agencies:  Family Faculty Organizations (FFOs), Canyon View Elementary Gifts and Donations, AZ Tax Credit, and CFSD Foundation.  Families can contribute to each of 4 agencies as each support students in distinct ways.
