Canterbury Award Recipients

Canterbury Pony Club members vote for fellow Canterbury members who deserve recognition and reward for participation and dedication through the year to Pony Club in general and Canterbury Pony Club in particular. Members and officers vote for the recipients.  These are awards of merit, not popularity, and are presented at the Canterbury Pony Club Annual Dinner.

Canterbury Cup

Presented to an active member at the C-3 level or above who has exemplified Pony Club, been a role model for younger members and been involved regionally and/or nationally. Nominations are made by C-1 members and above.  The recipient is awarded a traveling silver loving cup with his/her name to be engraved upon it.

Presented to the Canterbury member who has contributed the most to the Club’s fundraising efforts as determined by the club officers.

Reed Award

Presented to an outstanding Pony Club horse used by numerous members other than the owner. Nominations are may be made by any member.  This award is named for Reed, a Medicine Hat paint pony, who was owned by Mary Schenck of Heiland Hill Training Center. Reed was known, loved and ridden by many early members of Canterbury Pony Club and taught them a lot about horses. Reed passed away in 2005 at the age of 35 years.
