Please follow this link to access the latest issue of the Canterbury High School Council Newsletter.  Of particular note is this Friday’s Relay for Life fundraiser on page 7. 

 

Use the newsletter in conjunction with the school web site at www.canterburyhs.ocdsb.ca, the CHS Council web site at www.canterburycouncil.org and the monthly School Council meetings to stay up-to-date on school, board and educational announcements and events.

Rising Stars

Celebrating All the Arts at Arts Canterbury!

 

Saturday June 16th, 2012

Please join us for Rising Stars, a year-end variety performance, showcasing the accomplishments of Arts Canterbury students!

 

Tickets are $10 for students (including university students), $20 for adults, and $50 for family packs of two adults and two students.  Details on how to purchase your tickets will be available soon! Check out www.cacda.com.

 

We are also looking for volunteers to help out – perhaps your talents lean to baking awesome muffins, helping set up in the lobby, or supervising front of house. There are lots of ways to lend a hand!  To volunteer please contact Helen Robert at helenrobert@cacda.com.

How to Raise Confident and Motivated Kids

Aboriginal Community Forum at Rideau High School

A Preventative Approach to School Bullying

On Thursday evening, April 19th, Manor Park Public School is hosting a presentation by Dr. Tina Daniels on preventing bullying in the school. Dr. Daniels has developed and implemented many social skills programs, especially anti-bullying programs. This evening she will be focusing on primary prevention of conflict and aggression, and on the role of bystanders. Presentation on "Career Directions"

Nathaniel Jewitt, MA, Career Counsellor for Co-op and Career Services at Carleton University talked about the topic of career directions.

 

His agenda was be:

1.            Intro – current challenges in labour market

2.            His role as university Career Counsellor

3.            Transitions – into and out of university

4.            What employers are looking for

5.            Value and purpose of university

6.            What constitutes a ‘successful’ career?

7.            Tips and suggestions to start developing career direction and confidence


His presentation was very interesting and promises to seed a good number of post secondary careers.  Please find his presentation attached .
