CANOLA COOKING OIL. COOKING CONTESTS 2011 Canola Cooking Oil
Canola Oil This plant is on the Mississippi River in Red Wing, MN. Raw materials arrive via barge and the liquid finished product leaves in railroad tanker cars labeled ADM. From what I can piece together, this facility processes rapeseed into Canola oil, which can be used as food or bio-diesel. This plant also processes sunflower and linseed into their respective oils. The smell coming from this factory reminds me of oatmeal cooking in the morning. Canola fields, only a 20 minute walk away
We've seen these fields near our apartment and on today's walk we found an easy path allowing for a mini adventured. Saying hello to the local farmers in Chinese brought huge smiles to there faces. As for the yellow flowers, I'm not quite sure what they are.
