Team

 Morgan Lucas

Director
Morgan Lucas is currently a Senior Political Science and Economics major at the University of California, Santa Barbara. When first learned about Kiva in the Spring of 2006, she was immediately struck by its brilliant simplicity and amazing potential. Upon returning to school the following year, she made it her mission to spread awareness about both Kiva and microfinance. With the support of Kiva’s phenomenal staff, she founded Campus Kiva to help educate and engage college students in microlending through Kiva. Morgan is currently applying to law school and plans to use her degree to help MFI's navigate through the legalities of working in the developing world.

Dennis Sevilla

West Coast Regional Director

Dennis is currently a student at UCLA and is President of the UCLA Campus Kiva chapter. He is very interested in finance and has spent his summers working for Intel and Merrill Lynch. His interest in microfinance began during an economic development course during his 2nd year of college. After reading The End of Poverty and discussing it in his course, he knew his passion for economics and finance would be beneficial in the field of microfinance. Since then, he has spread awareness about microfinance and Kiva to students and co-workers. During his internship at Intel, Dennis set up a lending team and raised awareness within the company regarding microfinance. Since then, the program has skyrocketed and Intel has entered in a campaign with Kiva to help raise awareness under the slogan of Small Things Challenge.

Esha Chhabra

East Coast Regional Director

Esha is a graduate of Georgetown University (B.A. government and English/ minor in history).  As an undergrad in DC, her focus was on politics and journalism.  However, a few courses on international development led her to think more globally.  She found out about Kiva in one of Nicholas Kristof's NYTimes columns.  According to her, microfinance stands out, among other approaches in development, because it respects the dignity and capability of each individual and invests in their entrepreneurial spirit.  After finishing college, Esha got in touch with fellow high school alumna, Morgan, and started helping her with the development of CampusKiva.  Next year, Esha'll attend the London School of Economics for a master's in global politics and international development.

Vanessa Pridmore

Outreach and Partnerships Director
Vanessa is a Senior at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. She has been involved with microfinance for a year and is currently working on a thesis paper looking at Women's Political Empowerment through Microfinance. Last summer, Vanessa was able to meet one of the loan groups that she sponsored through Kiva in the Dominican Republic, and was able to witness firsthand the incredible impact microfinance is making on the individual level. Vanessa first learned of Kiva through her school's microfinance club, and enjoys now being able to teach other students about the field of microfinance through the use of Kiva and making loans to individuals.
