Leo and Carolyn have been married for four years. Carolyn grew up in Minnesota, USA and Leo was born and raised in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela. They met in 2000 when Carolyn lived there for a year as an exchange student during her senior year of high school.

At first they were good friends it was towards the end of her year in Venezuela they discovered each other’s passion for missions and was this passion that brought them together. Upon Carolyn’s return to Minnesota she went to YWAM Minneapolis and did her DTS (Discipleship and Training School) with an outreach to Ecuador.

After a year of long distance relationship they had a civil wedding in December 2002 in Venezuela and then a “real” wedding in September 2003 in Minnesota.

In February 2005 they left Minnesota and moved to YWAM Bethlehem, South Africa where Leo did his DTS while Carolyn served as staff. During outreach they went to Banda Aceh, Indonesia where the Tsunami of 2004 killed over 100,000 people. For two months they served in this area doing relief work among Muslims. On their return to South Africa they did the SOFM (School of Frontier Missions) together with focus on unreached peoples groups.

After the SOFM they spent two months living among the Himba tribe in northern Namibia as part of their outreach assignment. At the end of their year in South Africa they had the certainty it was God’s will for them to return to Minnesota and wait for new instructions from God. During this time they settled and Leo went to school for MIS (Management Information Systems) while working for a large corporation and Carolyn started her own business running a daycare at home.

They are very involved at their home church filling different volunteer positions and being part of the leadership team for the young adults group.
