Primarette

The Primarette, made by Bentzin in Germany, was a twin lens camera, but not a twin lens reflex. Unlike the TLR design, it did not use a mirror to reflect its viewing lens image onto the viewing screen. Instead, it was rather like two cameras, one on top of the other, each with its own set of bellows. The lower one took the picture and the top one projected an upside-down image onto a viewing screen on the back of the body. As the focusing knob was turned, the two lenses tracked backwards and forwards, each on its own set of bellows. At the same time, the top lens moved up and down to correct parallax. It took eight exposures on 127 film and the camera could be folded to make a flat package measuring no more than 4 x 4.5 x 1.25 inches.
