Mini-fex

The Mini-fex was the first still camera made for 16mm film in 1932, nine years after the first 16mm cine camera (Cine-Kodak) introduced the guage. The camera was made by Foto-Fex Kameras of Berlin and took 36 exposures, size 13x18mm on 16mm film. It featured a normal size shutter that dwarfed the tiny body. The camera shown here has a Vario shutter with speeds of 1/25, 1/50 and 1/100 second plus ‘B’ and ‘T’ and a 25mm f/3.5 Vidar lens. Other models sported Pronto or Compur shutters, f/4.5 or f/2.7 lenses and rumour has it that there was even a Mini-fex made with an incredible 52mm f/0.95 lens.
