Kombi

The Kombi was made in 1893 by Alfred C Kemper from Chicago. The camera’s name was derived from the fact that its was a combination of camera and viewer. It measured a mere 5 x 4 x 4 cm and the 38 mm wide film took 25 pictures to a roll which, once developed and printed onto another roll of film, was replaced in the camera. With a circular panel in the back removed to let in light, the camera’s lens was held to the eye to view the pictures. The box in which it was sold featured the Kombi logo, and the two together make a great addition to any collection.
