USODA is the governing body of the United States Optimist Fleet, these events are run and organized and entered through this organization, The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing and “Conditions for USODA Events” which can be found at www.usoda.org/ ...COAST says that all optimist sailors of the USA should join the USODA.org. CALENDAR AT A GLANCE APRIL 2012 USODA Team Trials - April 25 - 29 - Brant Beach YC, Brant Beach, NJ - Team Trials is a regatta held each spring for sailors that became Team Trials qualified (TTQ) during the
- preceding 12 months. At Team Trials, sailors compete to be members of Team USA for the following
- international competitions:
- International Optimist Dinghy Association (IODA) sponsored events:
- 1. World Championship
- 2. North American Championship
- 3. European Championship
- 4. Asian Championship
- AND these other international events:
- 5. British Nationals, United Kingdom
- 6. Flanders Regatta, Belgium
JUNE 2012- USODA Great Lakes Championships – June 27-28– US Sailing Center, Sheboygan, WI
JULY 2012- USODA Texas Youth Race Week, July 7 - 14 - Houston YC, TCYC & Lakewood YC
- USODA Midwest Championship, July 13 – 15 – Edgewater YC, Cleveland, Ohio
- USODA Nationals – July 22 - 29, – Sandusky YC, Sandusky, OH
- Each summer, in addition to each areas local events USODA Nationals are held typically in Mid-July. The first 3
- days are a team racing event. The top Gold Fleet team qualifies to represent the USODA at the BMW Optimist
- Team Race Cup in Berlin, Germany during late October 2012 . The Girls Nationals are a one day event
- immediately followed by the four day Open Nationals that names the national champion.
AUGUST 2012- USODA New England Championship – August 6 - 9 – Sail Newport, Newport, RI
- USODA Pacific Coast Championship - August 10-12 – Morro Bay/Huntington Lake – High Sierra, CAwww.usoda.org 2
- USODA Great Plains Championship – August 25 – 26 - Clear Lake YC, Clear Lake, IA
- Canadian Olympic Regatta Kingston (CORK) Opti Regatta – TBD - Kingston, Ontario (CORK is not a USODA
- sponsored event, but one many Opti sailors choose to attend at the end of the summer)
SEPTEMBER 2012- USODA West Coast Championship – Sept 22 -23 - King Harbor Yacht Club, Redondo Beach, CA
- USODA Southeast Championship – September 21 - 23 – Camp Seagull & Seafarer, North Carolina
OCTOBER 2012- USODA Atlantic Coast Championships - October 6 - 8 - Little Egg Harbor YC, Little Egg Harbor, NJ
- USODA Northwest Championship – October 19 -21 – Corinthian YC of Seattle, Seattle, Washington
NOVEMBER 2012- USODA Midwinter Regatta – November 21 - 24 - New Orleans, LA
DECEMBER 2012- Orange Bowl Regatta – Dec. 27 – 30, 2012 - Coral Reef Yacht Club, Miami, FL (Every year ends with a US Sailing
- Junior Olympic event in Miami, Florida which requires both US Sailing and USODA membership for Opti’s to
- participate, however Orange Bowl is not a USODA event.)
