Policy Advice

I am a regular visitor to Central Banks and in recent years have presented work at the Bank of England, Bank of Finland, Banque de France, Bank of Iceland, the BIS, Bundesbank, ECB, the Federal Reserve, the Norges Bank and the Reserve Bank of India.   I have also presented work at the European Commission, HMT and the Financial Service Authority in the past couple of years.

I have given witten and verbal evidence to both House of Lords and House of Commons Committees on Economics and Monetary Issues:

  • The Future of Governance in the EU, March 2011, Report and Evidence on the need for the UK to be involved in a European Stability Fund.
  • The Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England: ten years on, July 2007, Report and Evidence on the relative success of the MPC.
  • The Stability and Growth Pact, March 2003, Evidence on the concerns about how fiscal issues will dominate the EMU.
During Spring and early summer of 2011 I am developing monetary policy advice for the Nepal Rastra Bank, supported by the Asian Development Bank, and will work with the BIS in Hong Kong on a policy issue connected with debt issuance and monetary policy in the Autumn.

Since 2010, I have been Editor of the Cambridge University Press Series, Modern Macroeconomic Policy Making from which the first volume will emerge in the Autumn of 2011:

The second volume will be based upon a conference in Cambridge in September 2011:
