Rome

 Rome:

A conglomerate of new

and old

The Columns remain standing

Silent testimony

From the first empire

To span a continent

And many centuries.

The Colosseum echoes

of triumphs and tribulations:

The crowd roars as the

Emperor condemns his once-prized fighter.

And no one notices the wine seller

Of to the side

Sobbing,

As they watch her lover

Die.
