CAIP Lab Updates and Photos

Wednesday, July 8th:
CAIP Lab was involved in the 2009 Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program.
Below are photos with the two program participants who undertook their research through the CAIP Lab: Stephanie Linares and Kenisha Boone.

Sunday, May 25th:

We recently presented research in collaboration with Dr. Shannon Kundey, who is on faculty at Hood College in Frederick, MD, at the annual meeting of the Association for Psychological Science (San Francisco, CA)! We continue to collaborate with Dr. Kundey on numerous projects that seek to understand how humans and animals (in much of this research, domesticated dogs) understand patterns in their environment and make choices within their environment.

Monday, May 18th:

We have created a new CAIP Lab page to post photos of each of our rooms!
Please click here to see more!

Wednesday, May 6th:
It is official, the control room that runs all of our audio and video equipment is up and fully functional! Many thanks to the great people at Noldus who have been really helpful with everything and have provided wonderful consultation and support.

We still have some remaining computer equipment trickling back in from tech support (they are just prepping all of it right now for networking and such). Once all of the equipment is back in we will post some photos/video clips of the lab space on a new page that describes each of rooms and their capabilities. Stay tuned!

Saturday, April 25th:

Maryland Day was just a wonderful time and we very much enjoyed speaking with everyone about us, the research we are up to, and the shyness screenings that we are offering to the community. We have posted some Maryland Day photos and we hope you enjoy!

A shot of the banner we had on our display table.

Our mascot, all decked out for the day!

The Maryland Day group poses for a photo. Many thanks
to Steph and Sonia for coming out to help on the first
pretty hot day of the year! Also, thanks for the photo Mo!

This is a shot of the nice little Maryland Day sign that
the organizers set up for us. Thank you all for allowing
us to be a part of this!

Friday, April 10th:
This week was a very special week for CAIP Lab! Noldus came by on Monday to install all the audio and video equipment in each of the interview and conference rooms, and we had the last of our furniture delivered and installed yesterday and today! Today we also placed orders on computer equipment for the student office and next week we should have the last of the remaining items installed in the lab (e.g., one-way mirrors and voice jacks for all of the phones and networked equipment).

We do not have photos yet of CAIP Lab yet but if you want to see a copy of the layout of CAIP Lab, please find an attachment at the bottom of this page.

Oh and for those of you in the area on the last weekend of April (Saturday, April 25th), CAIP Lab will have a table set up for Maryland Day, a one-day festival held on the College Park campus! For more information on where we will be (the Biz and Society Hill section of the festival),

Tuesday, March 24th:
We are about 10 days away from completion of all laboratory renovations!

On the week of April 6th the company we hired (Noldus Information Technology, see: http://www.noldus.com/human-behavior-research/products/the-observer-xt) will arrive to install our observational equipment. This will include installing audio and video capabilities in the assessment, interview, and conference rooms of the laboratory suite as well as observational coding software to facilitate gathering observational data for our assessments.

We have also recently purchased a series of heart rate monitors for psychophysiological research we are currently getting underway in collaboration with colleagues at Yale University (http://www.yale.edu/readlab/people/staffs/aldao.html).

Around the middle of April we will post photos of the new space along with descriptions of the facilities and equipment available for research and clinical training!

Thursday, March 12th:
We are less than a month away from wrapping up renovations to the laboratory space and installing all observational and office equipment!
