 Hello students welcome to one of the official chem websites containing some of your semester two vocabulary. I am Carolina, speaking on behalf of my piers, here to inform of how we are here to help. Each vocab word has a definition and link that will help you better understand what you are discussing in class. The link will take you to another site which will give you an image and/or description of what is going on.

 Aqueous Solution- A solution in which the solvent is water.

 Decomposition reaction- A single compound breaks down into two or more elements or new compounds.

 Single-replacement reaction- A reaction in which the atioms of one element replace the atoms of another element.

 Double replacement reaction- An exchange of ions between two compounds.

 Synthesis reaction- A chemical reaction in which two or more substances react to produce one product.

 Chemical Reaction- When physical properties are changed.

 Precipitate- A milky, jelly-like solid.

 Solvent- The most plentiful substance in the solution.

 Product- Resulting substances from the chemical reaction.

 Solution- A substance dissolves in water.

 Combustion reaction- Oxygen combines with a substance and releases energy in the form of heat and light.

 Reactant- Original substances entering a chemical reaction. 

 Solute- Any substance that is dissolved in a solvent.
