AFFINITY GROUPS
The following organizations outside of Canada link the worlds of philanthropy with that of Indigenous Peoples: International Funders for Indigenous Peoples (IFIP)
An affinity group of the Council on Foundations and based in Akwesasne, NY. IFIP was formed to provide a venue for communications and resource sharing among international funders of Indigenous peoples, and a voice for increased, dedicated funding for international Indigenous initiatives. It publishes an Indigenous Peoples Funding and Resource Guide, available for purchase. Native Americans in Philanthropy (NAP)
Promotes, facilitates and celebrates philanthropic giving to Native communities from both Native and non-Native donors. NAP also provides professional development opportunities and support for Native Americans working in the field of philanthropy. Although US-focused, a number of their many resources and publications could be of value to Canadians working on these issues. Philanthropy Australia – Indigenous Affinity Group
Formed last year, this is the first affinity group to be formed under Philanthropy Australia, the umbrella organization for all Australian grant-making foundations.
