CACAAT was launched in October 2006 when Sue Pike and Yanna Whitehead, supported by Chichester Quakers, organised a Raising Awareness Day for CAAT Shut DESO campaign. Within two hours over 100 people had participated in CAAT's poll and signed the petition. With growing interest in CACAAT's 2007 Raising Awareness Days and a well attended Public Meeting hosting CAAT's Reopen BAE Systems/ Al Yamamah deal Speakers Tour in November, it was clear that there was enthusiasm and active support for our local group.
Now CACAAT has:
- 40 supporters on its mailing list
- 6 Steering Committee members
- Links with local groups, including Amnesty International, UNA, WDM (Worthing, Portsmouth) S.E.Hants Peace Council, Churches Together in Chichester
- Student Outreach links at Chichester University and Chichester College
- A good record of effective campaiging both locally and nationally.
