(1/25/09)

-Just a reminder to all AFJROTC cadets, the schedule for this week's final exams has been altered so that no student has more than two finals per day. Friday (1/30) remains a half day, with school letting out at 11:30 AM.
-There will be no uniform this friday.

-The corps welcomes are new ASI instructor, Master Sergeant Toledo, to the unit. MSgt. Toledo just joined us after the start of the new year, and we hope to make him welcome in the coming years. Also, there is the Longbeach Polytechnic High School Drill Meet on (1/31). The bus to the competition is nearly full, and the extra seats are available on a first come-first served basis.

-ROTC Field Day (RO Day) is coming up this Friday (12/19), and everyone is looking forward to this exciting event. Cadets should ensure they have completed the following tasks prior to (12/19):

--->All teachers have signed the excuse from class form on the back of the permission slip
--->Parents have signed all pages of the permission slip with blanks that say 'parent signature'
--->Permission slips should be turned in to a cadet's flight commander/sergeant
--->Nametag, belt buckle, and shoes should be mirror shined!

-Cadets who wish to turn in cans towards their flight's total need to do so by Wednesday (12/17). Make sure to put your flight's letter on the top of the can for identification!

-For all cadets! The year schedule for CA-935 AFJROTC has been posted on the calendar page. Some of the details have yet to be posted, but more information will be presented as it is made available. Remember, all dates and times are subject to change.
-BDI/COM for November is to take place this Friday (11/21), come out and support the cadets participating in this month's competition.
-The canned food drive has begun! All cadets are encouraged to bring in cans to help with the total for their flight, and this year's winning flight will receive RO day points! The rules for the competition are:

--->Cans must not be bought, but may be collected as donations from neighbors, friends, or relatives
--->The cans must NOT be expired
--->All cans must have the cadet's flight letter on either the top or bottom in permanant marker
--->The cans must be sealed, metal, and contain non-perishable food items

-CA-935 is now selling entertainment books! This fundraiser will directly contribute to the corps, and all cadets are highly encouraged to participate in this important fundraiser. The books come in $20.00 USD and $40.00 USD versions. New this year is the implementation of a rewards system, which functions as follows:

--->Any flight in which all cadets sell at least one book will receive a free uniform day
--->Any cadet who sells five entertainment books with receive a (community) service ribbon
--->The cadet who sells the most books will win dinner with Col. Hogan at the restaurant of their choosing

-All students of SRHS, next week (11/24-11/28), school is not in session due to Thanksgiving break.

-BDI/COM competitions have concluded. Congratulations to this month's winners, c/Amn. Jennifer Ngo and c/MSgt. Zucker.
-The 11/7 St. Vincent DePaul Kitty Hawk event has been cancelled, see c/2nd Lt. Rabara for details.
-The merit/demerit system is now being enforced. The list of cadets with merits/demerits is currently on display.
-All cadets! Remember that Tuesday, 11/12, is Veterans' Day. School will not be in session.

-For cadets participating in the BDI and COM competitions, they are both scheduled for October 31st, which is a Friday! Uniform on this day is not optional. All cadets are expected to show up in uniform or they will recieve no credit for the inspection.
-Team tryouts are today. We are very proud of all the cadets participating in afterschool teams.
-AFJROTC CA935th gives a warm welcome to Colonel Hogan, our new SASI. We all look forward to an exciting year under new instrction.
-Cadets looking for voluteer opportunities can participate in the St. Vincent DePaul Kitty Hawk event, on either 11/7 or 11/14 (or both). See c/Msgt. Rabara if you have any questions or would like to sign up.
-First years need to pick up uniforms in Logistics either during lunch or after school for wear next Friday.

-New events pertaining to all our cadets have been added to the corps' calendar! If you have any suggestions for future events or would like to see more information posted, please contact c/Msgt. Zucker, Technology NCO.

-Back to school night is over, and the cadets who volunteered their time to help direct parents are greatly appreciated by both the rest of the corps, and all those confused attendees!
-Cadet Picnic is coming up fast! The price has been changed to $11.00, which should be given to your Flight Sergeant or flight commander. Make sure you sign up for events if you wish to participate.
-Two week training is now concluded! Pictures have been posted in the media section, and more will be posted with every new event.
-The MCAS Miramar Airshow is this Friday (10/3)! If you wish to participate in this event, please make sure you have your permission slip signed and turned in to your Flight Commander/Sergeant. You must have both a 2.0 GPA and the signed waiver for all your classes, with the exception of the ROTC period.

-First Years! Two week training is now in session, and with any luck, we'll have pictures of your accomplishments up on the website soon! It's great to see so much motivation and dedication being displayed by the newest members of CA935, because it's our core values that really make us shine.
-All cadets participating in Back to School Night, (9/25), please make sure that the Corps Commander (c/Lt. Col. Knieriem) is informed that you will be attending by the end of this week.
-All cadets attending the cadet picnic (Saturday, 10/11), please make sure to have your permission slips ready. Flight commanders will be handing them out soon!

A new school year has begun, and with it comes a new year of SRHS AFJROTC! We're glad to welcome both returning members of the corps, along with cadets who are new to the program. Both first years and upperclassmen alike can find up-to-date information on the calendar page of the website, along with useful links and general reminders on the homepage. Updates will be added as often as possible, so check back often for updates on important events!
