House Minority Leader Lawrence F. Cafero Jr., R-Norwalk, pictured standing, far right, speaks while colleagues Rep. Barbara Lambert, D-Milford and Rep. Jack F. Hennessy, D-Bridgeport, play solitaire Monday night as the House convened to vote on a new budget. An e-mail has been circulating which states:
Here is the problem. Most people are going to vote as they always have, along party lines, and the incumbents are going to get a lot of votes. In the 47th congressional district, for instance, the incumbent is sure to win with around 70% of the vote. Even if a lot of people vote against the incumbent, splitting these votes between the candidates of the other parties will result in failure, something like this:
We must find a challenger that we agree on for this to work. Many of us, although registered Republicans, do not want to vote Republican because they are just as corrupt as the Democrats. An independent platform contains too many unknowns and has no form, Libertarians and others are too far off from what most of us believe. The solution is in the primaries. We can reject the offered candidates and get a Republican we believe in, one that doesn't conform to the current ways of doing business. Through such a candidate, we can rebuild the Republican party into something that represents the working people and rejects both the current power structure with its millionaire candidates and the crazies that want to redefine everything according to Hollywood standards.
Shall we try to do this? If we can do it in the 47th, we can do it anywhere. It takes thousands of Republican signatures to get a candidate on the ballot. Will you help? With enough signatures, it can be done with no cash. What if we could field a candidate with no campaign funding, just word of mouth?
E-mail nottheincumbent@rocketmail.com if you will sign a the petition to get someone clean and fresh on the ballot. We need thousands!

News Update: Read this article from Fortune magazine, and notice the quote at the end. Google is working with the Democratic Party to drop some sites in search rankings. http://money.cnn.com/2009/10/21/technology/obama_google.fortune/. This would not be allowed with newspapers, but is acceptable for Google. Why?
Who is running against Loretta Sanchez in California Congressional District 47?
