Welcome to Bytown Good Samers of Eastern Ontario

"Bytown Good Samers" is an official chapter of the International  Good Sam Club. We are the longest running chapter in Ontario and on September 11, 2008 we celebrated our 35th anniversary.  We have approximately 80 active members as well as several  honorary members in our group. Our chapter was started by people from  the Ottawa area but is not limited to the immediate vicinity.  We have  three planned camp outs per year as well as a Spring and Fall dinner meeting and a Christmas party.

Our camp outs are pretty informal consisting of meals together, various games, crafts and a lot of exchanging of information and ideas. During the  Spring camp out we pick up litter along our stretch of "Adopted Highway."

Our favorite charity is "The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario".(CHEO)  The money we raise is donated to the hospital. Some of our members have volunteered to man the phones during hospital fund raising drives. We have a woman in our group that has a passion for making quilts from recycled jeans.  She has inspired the group to get involved and help her.  These quilts are given to the children in CHEO  to help provide comfort for kids that are going through a frightening time in their young lives. See our "Jean Quilts " page for pictures and more details.

WE HAVE OUR OWN GROUP

The Group Page is a way to post messages to our members about upcoming events. At this point there is a page for the  September outing. If you'd like another page with a different subject, let me know. Everyone can read it but only invited group members can post on it.

License Change for Operators of
Recreational Vehicles
Effective July 1, 2011, Ontario now allows operators of recreational vehicles (RV) to tow RV’s on a full Class G driver’s licence if the trailer weight exceeds 4,600 kg. Previously, operators of towed RVs required a Class A licence to operate their vehicles and trailers when the trailer weight exceeded 4,600 kg. The RGW for your truck must include the combined loaded weight of your truck and trailer.
