Occasionally Ella comes over to our place and ends up eating dinner. We don't have children so our place isn't very child proof. She's four. We like our tablecloth. She doesn't like to sit still. Not even when she is eating. Guess what this means? Yep, food all over the tablecloth. And since I'm kinda lazy when it comes to doing laundry, I wanted to come up with a way to reduce our laundry. Hence the placemat. I brought out a pile of 1.5" to 2" squares, cut a piece of interfacing and told her to arrange it in the way that seemed best. With a little help from her mom, she came up with what you see here. Now I just need to sandwich some clear vinyl on top of it. Sew all the pieces in place, run some bias trim around the outside edges to keep all the ends from fraying. And next time the Messosaurus rears her toddler head, we'll be ready for her.
