[F09404-adj] I made a number of Capture NX 2 adjustments to the raw photograph. 1. I adjusted the white balance by choosing a grey point in the image. Points on the grey card left the image still too warm, so I used the margin of the white paper having the color swatches. 2. I set high sharpening and I also did high tone compensation. The reason for that was there was just too much red in the small mug, which is a very neutral brown with dark markings. 3. I also performed +1.35 Exposure compensation and also expanded the range from black to white to capture further detail. 4. I used a color picker on the dark mug to eliminate more red from the brown. I also used a color picker on the porcelain mug to attempt to bring down the warmth created by the setting. 5. Finally, I made a small overall adjustment to contrast and brightness before changing the resolution for uploading of a final JPEG version. 6. I normally perform any rotation and cropping before the color, contrast, and brightness adjustments, since that is easier to get the way I want when only the final image is in view. 7. I can see from this and the final version that the scavenging of a paper grocery bag as a surface and backdrop is unsuccessful, not only because Vicki is not pleased with it, but because it adds too much warmth to the scene. Something with tone similar to the grey card would have worked better.

They changed the coffee mugs over at 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'. One the Left is the old mug retired after Jay left late night after 17 years, and went to Primetime".
