Octagonal Twist Posted for Oruhito. This is a CP to explain one way of folding an octagonal twist fold from a grid. 1. Start by folding the red pleat-creases, using the grid for the reference points. 2. Then fold the creases in the middle that form the octagon via angle-bisecting. 3. The blue pleat-creases are folded last, and are based on the intersections of the previous creases, parallel to the red pleat-creases. If actually folding a tessellation using this, you don't have to precrease the blue pleat-creases; they will automatically fall into place as you collapse it. This method of obtaining octagonal twists is reverse engineered from the works of Andy Wilson. The disadvantage of this method is that the blue pleat-creases are completely off the grid, and thus this somewhat restricts/complicates what you can do with the rest of your tessellation. By the way, this crease pattern is specifically for an iso-area twist. You can easily change this to be a regular twist simply by rearranging the layers. Individually Twisted
Just like me these are individually twisted. This is a 4 pound container of pretzels, filled with paper twists.
