Busy 1.1a Mathematica® Package

Busy 1.1a is a Mathematica® Package (busy11a.mx) for Bayesian, Risk, and Second-Order Distributions. You need Mathematica 5.2 to run it. Busy 1.1a, which should be considered as a beta-release, can be downloaded freely below.

However, before doing so, you have to agree to the Busy Licence Agreement: Busy Licence Agreement. If you do not agree, do not download, nor use Busy. There is no restriction on reading, or downloading, Busy-related manuscripts at Documents.

Busy 1.1a Download

Busy 1.1a (beta-release) Free Download: Busy 1.1a Package.

Busy currently runs only under Mathematica 5.2. The new Mathematica version 6.0 requires quite some revision of the Busy package, especially with regard to the graphics. Our intention is to further develop Busy for the revolutionary Mathematica 6.0.

Additional Packages Needed: classes.m and ticks.m

You need two additional packages to run Busy. The first is classes.m for Object-Oriented Programming, as part of the MathProg suite of Mathematica programs, developed by Roman E. Maeder. Check out: MathDirect. This program is distributed with permission by Roman E. Maeder

The present version comes from the CD-Rom in: Maeder, R.E. (1996) The Mathematica Programmer II, San Diego: Academic Press. You may download it from here: Classes Package. Further explanation can be found in: Maeder, R.E. (2000) Computer Science with Mathematica, Cambridge University Press.

The second package needed to run Busy is ticks.m from the ExtendGraphics graphics extensions developed by Tom Wickham-Jones, presently Director of Kernel Technology at Wolfram Research: Wickham-Jones (1994) Mathematica Graphics: Techniques and Applications. TELOS/ Springer-Verlag. The ticks.m package can be downloaded here: Ticks Package.

Busy Installation

Busy has to be installed manually in the Mathematica directory ExtraPackages. Check the Busy 1.0b Reference Manual Text. Create a directory BusyEngine under Extrapackages. A Busy package path that works would look like this:

C: Program Files\ Wolfram Research\ Mathematica\ 5.2\ AddOns\ ExtraPackages\ BusyEngine\ Busy11a.mx

You also need to install the two additional packages manually, if not already installed at some previous occasion:

C: Program Files\ Wolfram Research\ Mathematica\ 5.2\ AddOns\ ExtraPackages\ ExtendGraphics\ Ticks.m

and

C: Program Files\ Wolfram Research\ Mathematica\ 5.2\ AddOns\ ExtraPackages\ MathProg\ CLASSES.M
