How We Met

Picture it....Atlanta, GA on a  chilly Saturday night in January 1998.  Two young ladies, T and K, went to visit T's friend Jin the Kilgore Hall dormitory on the campus of  Morehouse College.  J introducted T and K to B.  They all enjoyed a brief conversation before parting but their meeting was never forgotten....  Fast Forward to a Monday night in May 2001....  Both B and K  found themselves in Chaos Nightclub in the Buckhead section of Atlanta, GA.   K  recognized B and after much internal debate she decided to call him over to begin a conversation.  Being totally oblivious to K's advances, the conversation was shorter than expected and B returned to the spot on the wall that he previously occupied.  As he was planning his next move, K came over to him and asked if he wanted to dance.  Not wanting to be swindled into dancing with anyone other than K, he clarified her request by asking, "With you?"  The two danced and enjoyed casual conversation until K's friends were ready to leave.  At that moment K asked for B's information so they could continue their conversation, and he obliged.  She called the next day.  The rest as they say is history...

The Proposal

After much preliminary planning, B's original plan was to ask for K's hand in marriage sometime in the Spring of 2007.  However, on the morning of February 18th (the coldest day of 2007), his spirit moved him to wait no longer.  He called K and asked if she would accompany him to their favorite breakfast eatery.  They met in the parking lot of B's apartment complex.  As they got into the car, B told K he wanted to stop by the campus of Morehouse College in order to "show her something".  She agreed to the excursion grudgingly due to her increasing hunger, and the seasonably low February temperature.

Upon arriving on the Morehouse College campus the two came across Danforth Chapel, and B asked if K knew the history of the chapel; to which her repsonse was "Why don't you tell me."  While in front of the chapel, he explained that historically the chapel was utilized to marry Morehouse Men and Spelman Women.  He then expressed his feelings about K and the future of their relationship, and proceeded to get down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage.  She said yes, eventually...

Save The Date Postcard

When I told B about my idea for our STD to be us on a magazine cover he was not feeling me. He wanted to do something formal for our STDs.  I wanted something fun.  When I showed him the Feb 07 (also the month we were engaged) cover with Barak and Michelle on it he warmed up to the idea and helped execute it by getting his friend who is a graphic artist to put it together and print it for us.  We have gotten so many compliments on it and love how it really represents our personalities.
