04/29/11 119/365 New sneakers! I work out an average of 4-6 times/week and have been wearing the same sneakers for at least 5 years. And they were cheap sneakers to begin with. Now that I'm getting into running I couldn't take the foot pain anymore & finally broke down & went to a running store & bought real sneakers. It's like running on clouds! They're so cushy & soft. I will never put up with crappy sneakers again. On a side note, I ran my first 5K (indoors on the treadmill at 1.0 incline) on March 30th & did it in 31 minutes. (10 minutes/mile) Today at lunch I ran my 6th 5K, and have improved my time to 26.57 minutes. (8.57 minutes/mile)

My relationship with cardio exercise is that of love and hate. I dread doing it, but I do it anyway. Religiously. It's one of those things that I do that makes me feel alive. It also makes me feel like I'm paying back to my body the activity I owe it due to this modern type of living. After all, the human body has not totally adapted to all this sedentary, high calorie type of environment. Also, my knee pain from work goes numb while I'm running which I don't know if that's a good thing. Incline: 6, Calories: 399, Time: 32.25, Miles: 3.11, Speed: 6mph, Pulse: 137bpm. Man, this is a bad picture.
