The Mouse Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights
The Mouse Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights
I normally am not much of a video person, but I just had to post one of this awesome ornament (Hallmark, 2008). Seriously, it just oozes excellence. On my quest to fill out our Christmas tree, the last two years I've been hitting the Hallmark stores in Indianapolis after Christmas. I found a Hallmark collector forum that has inside information as to when markdowns will (usually) occur, so I would get to the stores right when they opened to get all of the ornaments I wanted at 75% off. This ornament proved to be very difficult to find, but finally I found it. I didn't have markdown information on this particular store (some stores are franchises, some are corporate-run), so I asked the clerk when the next markdown would occur. She informed me that it would be the next day. With only one of this gem left, I debated whether to buy it at 50% or risk waiting for 75% off. I decided to try another strategy, firing up those dimples and asking if it would be possible to hold it until tomorrow. She obliged, and the rest is history. After seeing how awesome this ornament is, I realized I would've paid full price. A definite favorite of mine. If you're anything like me, head over to eBay, and run "deck the house hallmark" as a search query...
Thorntons to close 120 stores
Thorntons to close 120 stores
Thorntons is the latest in a string of retailers to fall victim to the unfavourable conditions on British high streets. The store will close 120 outlets over the next three years and seriously consider the future of a further 60. These closures will leave Thorntons with around 180 to 200 company-owned stores. In the majority of locations it hopes franchises will open outlets. Thorntons is far from an isolated case; Oddbins, TJ Hughes, Jane Norman and Habitat have all run into serious trouble as a result of reduced consumer spending as austerity cuts loom over the majority of the population.
