What is a “Blue Zone”? A Blue Zone is a section of road near an elementary school that has been designated by the City of Newton for the drop-off and pick-up of students during restricted times. Signs are posted marking these areas as “School Pick-up/Drop-off Zones" and the curbs are painted blue. During the restricted times, a car may only stop in a Blue Zone long enough to let children enter or exit the vehicle. No vehicle may be parked or left unattended. This includes parents waiting for their child to come out of or go into the school. | Where is the Burr Blue Zone? Burr has two Blue Zones: a large one directly in front of the school and a small one on the opposite side of the street, just past the crosswalk. Please use the large Blue Zone (by entering Pine St. from River St.) whenever possible, especially with younger children. You can see the location of these areas on the Burr School Zone Map. |
