Jonathan Burr school is holding its first-ever pledge drive during the 2009/2010 school year! The pledge drive is being run by the Friends of Burr organization, a group of parents committed to improving our school so that our children have the best possible school experience.
We think Burr has an excellent principal and an amazing, committed group of teachers and staff. But there are some things only money can buy, so we are motivated to raise funds.
Our goal for the 2009/2010 school year is to raise $60,000. We expect about half of this to come from the Spring Gala and half to come from the pledge drive.
The money raised will be spent according to the following philosophy: - 50% will be spent on immediate needs. We'll spend it, take photos, and people will see the benefits immediately. More specifically, we've defined our immediate needs with items in the Support our Teachers bucket and the Burr Beautification bucket.
- 25% will be spent on short-term needs. More specifically, the bucket Computers for our Students falls into this category. We may see the benefit of these computers during the 09/10 school year.
- 25% will be spent on longer-term needs. More specifically, the bucket Future Programming falls into this category. Some of these funds will be spent on programs for next year (2010/2011) that we already know we need to support, such as Pre-K Japanese. We'd like to set some money aside to fund larger programs in the future too.
