Burnside began his study of karate in 1977 while a student at the University of Southern Mississippi. He has been to Okinawa, Japan several times to study with some of the most respected karate teachers of our day. With expertise in Seibukan, Shotokan, Goju-ryu, Kyokushinkai, and Kobudo, Burnside has experienced many styles of martial arts. BKA has turned out many state, regional, national, and world champions. BKA was opened in 1984 in downtown Hattiesburg on Front Street in what is currently brownstone's restaurant.
