21-Jan Sat St Marks Summit from Cypress. Snowshoe 11km, 460m elevation gain, about 5 hours, maybe longer depending on snow conditions.  Travelling along Howe Sound Crest trail, reach the summit and great views. C3 J. Holmes 604-464-0229
22-Jan Sun Killarney Lake and Dorman Point, Bowen Island. Enjoy a short scenic ferry ride to beautiful Bowen Is.
We walk from the Snug Cove terminal to Killarney Lake and back, then head to Dorman Point for great views of Howe Sound.  Ferry costs will be approx. $15 per person.

28-Jan Sat Elk and Mt Thurston. This is a snowshoe trip that could take up to 7 hrs, with a 3400 ft elevation change.  We may have to carry our snowshoes for the first part of the trail.  Excellent views from the top of Elk ridge.  We may shorten the hike if snow conditions are poor. 28-Jan Sat Cross-country skiing at Callaghan Valley (near Whistler). Callaghan is a great place near Whistler for cross-country skiing, with trails for beginners and  also for those who like more of a challenge.  There is also a beautiful day-lodge there, with fireplaces, where we will eat lunch (OK to bring your own, or buy there) and end the day with hot chocolate before returning to Vancouver.  We will ski a couple of hours in the morning, then 1 or 2 hours after lunch before returning to Vancouver.   D. 29-Jan Sun Hollyburn Peak snowshoe outing. This is an easy paced snowshoe trip to the top of Hollyburn. The trail is accessed from the cross country ski parking lot at Cypress Mountain. The trek is about 8km return with a 450m elevation gain. On a good weather day, the 360’ views from the top are well worth the effort to ascend the steeper sections. B3 J. Gill 604-291-6931

05-Feb Sun Dog Mountain. Easy snowshoeing to get your snowshoe legs back. This is a 6km return easy trek to bluffs overlooking Vancouver. (Please contact us a week ahead if you need advice as to where to rent snowshoes, etc.). A1 S. Liang 515-8078
11-Feb Sat Evans Peak Golden Ears snowshoeing. Distance 12km round trip, elevation gain 950m with an starting elevation of 185m and an finish elevation of 1135m. Great little hidden jewel of Golden Ears Park just off the west canyon trail.  B3 M. Yiu 778-863-0526
11-Feb Sat 10-pin Bowling. Meet at 6:30 pm at Lucky Strike Lanes, 6th Avenue/12th Street, New Westminster. Cost approximately $14 (includes shoe rental and two games).  Contact Jim McCavour at 604-438-6854 by February 9th to reserve your spot. This hike will be about 7.5 hours with a 2900 ft elevation change over 6 km.  (12 km rtn).  We will start from Quarry Road along the Pitt River and proceed to Munro Lakes, then to Dennett lake. 19-Feb Sun Trans Canada Trail from Kensington Pool (Capitol Hill) to New Brighton Park and back. A good walk on a comfortable trail. Total time 4 hours with an elevation gain of about 100 m. B1 G&R Laman 604-451-8445

25-Feb Sat Elfin Lakes. This hike will be about 8 hours, with 2000 ft elevation change over 11 km.  (22 km rtn) .  Since this hike may be one of the spectacular hikes of the winter, be sure to dress warmly and bring your camera! C4/D4 T.Treasure 604-540-6255
25-Feb Sat Galiano Island. Mt Galiano. Elevation gain 300 m, total distance about 15 km includes access along quiet country roads from the ferry terminal. Spectacular views on a clear day. Ferry leaves Tsawwassen terminal at 8:35am. Ferry leaves Galiano Island at 5:40pm. Foot passenger return fare is $26.15 C2 J. Gill 604-291-6931
26-Feb Sun Cheakamus Canyon - hike. We start this hike in the wonderfully named "Paradise Valley" just north of Squamish. It is about 2 hours walk up the valley, which gradually changes to a canyon where the trail climbs up the side of the canyon with great views down to the valley and the railway below. This is a nice little hike with huge views and a great variety of terrain and scenery. B3 D. Cater 604-341-2846
