Just Write It!
Materials:
*Lined post-it-notes
*Chart Paper
*SAT Words and their synonyms (I will provide a list in late November)
*A wall
Our courtesies wrote down SAT words and their synonyms on large chart paper and placed it next to the wall that would feature the post-it-note event.
A morning announcement was made to promote the Just Write it Event and students came in to participate. To make it more interesting, girls were given green post-its and boys were given yellow ones. Pink post-it-notes were used if students/teachers were responding to someone's statement.
Tips: Stress that students must keep their statements PG and let students know that it ISN'T a Complain Board.
Our students were fantastic - we had many profound statements and over 50 participants. Words like candid, fervent, and tenacious were used and yes, they were used correctly - Way to go Mustangs! A special thanks to our teachers who got involved and encouraged our students to join in! |
