kitchen, new house Ack. Just outside the window and door you can see an addition previous owners tacked onto the back and side of the house, enclosing the side of house, entire kitchen and bathroom in so there's no access or view of outside. Awful. It's also falling down with rotten beams holding it up. It was advertised as a "sun room"! We'll rip the addition off and replace it with a cedar deck going down into the back gardens (which don't exist yet, but boy will they ever one day). The kitchen itself isn't great, the cabinets are odd inside and the stove is smack against the sink so no room for dish rack.... and there's no dishwasher. We'll be taking out the upper cabinets on the left, putting in a big window and putting the sink on that left counter instead. Lots of work. My kitchen
The old cabinets are worn out and the current floorplan does not function well; if the dishwasher is open you can't open the refrigerator, the sink is opposite the stove and the room is too narrow for that. That countertop was put in by the previous owner and it's too dark and never looks clean to us. We added the pot rack above the stove to gain a little more storage, but it's not ideal. The doors from that upper cabinet were off when we bought the house. Dave says they're in the garage, but we couldn't open the one on the left very well if we did. The one on the far left only opens about six inches.
