Hi, my name is Russell Joseph and have been in the building industry for nearly 30 years.
I started out in the shopfitting sector of the building industry and then started working for myself in the mid eighties and became a registered domestic builder by the late eighties. In the early nineties I also became a registered commercial builder and am legally able to construct any building, anywhere.
Through that time period I also completed the Building Surveyors certificate which gave me a great insight into the regulatory and scientific side of the building industry. This technical education has helped me enormously in understanding exactly how and why things are done on site to satisfy all the various codes and regulations.
The bulk of my building experience is in the renovation and extension sector, typically doing the jobs that nobody else wanted and have taken great pride in delivering quality product at a fair price.
In the last few years I have completed a diploma of Business Administration and was awarded Student of the Year for 2005.
Also, I have resided as the Chair of the Mornington Peninsula Branch of the HIA for four years and stepping down last year in order to give unfettered evidence to a Senate Inquiry into Builders Warranty Insurance as reported on the ABC 7:30 Report and the Sydney Morning Herald
Over the last 12 months I have moved away from traditional fixed price Custom building and have started to concentrate more on consultancy and in particular to assist Owner Builders have successful outcomes for their projects as well as working with two of Melbournes largest Municipalities in both a consultative role and minor construction works.
More recently I have been able to link up with Barry Armstrong from UBuild Homes and together we are building a fantastic service for the ever growing army of Owner Builders.
The future of the building industry is bright and I believe that education and learning is the key - both for builders and consumers.
This is my vision and I thank you for taking the time to visit.
