Thrift Shop Find - What Is It?

I found this yesterday at a thrift shop and I'm not sure what it is. It is made of a heavy metal that has a silver finish. It's like a letter or napkin holder, but more narrow. They had several of them, so I'm thinking they might be knife holders to use at a table setting. I'm going to use it to hold bills to be paid. It cost $1.00! My grandmother's carnival glass compote and a hand-blown glass vase from a thrift store in the background

This lovely garden bench started out as a decorative paper-napkin holder. Although the length and width were suitable for sixth scale use, the legs were far to short, so I cut some basswood strips, attached them to the insides of the legs, and painted them cool white. Barbie Rose (Titanic) head on Volks 27cm body. Had to stuff head to get it to fit securely and hold poses.
