1st - 5th June 2012
Yes, due to HRH's Diamond Jubilee we have an extra day and a later bank holiday.......more reasons to come and join us down by the sea.....
Bude & Stratton Folk Festival is a small, friendly and very welcoming folk festival in the picturesque seaside town of Bude and nearby Stratton in North Cornwall, England.
An entirely acoustic festival (apart from the ceilidhs), the festival offers a broad mix of singers, dancers and musicians.
The festival is fast gaining a reputation on the folk circuit as a great little festival and we try to offer a good mix - Local folk entertainers ensure that the people coming into the town for the festival see some of what Cornwall has to offer and entertainment from further afield gives the locals a taste of what's going on outside Cornwall.
The emphasis is always on enjoyment and participation - to this end, we offer a good range of sessions, dances and dancers and sing-arounds..... it's a bit like a fringe festival..... with concerts and workshops.
Being a seaside town, there is always the big shanty sing included in the programme. Last year we also had a shanty sing in rowing boats on the Bude Canal. (Bude Canal is rather special, as it has a sea-lock, linking this inland waterway with the Atlantic!) It was immense fun and I am sure will become a part of the festival programme.
In order to make this festival as accessible to all, we try to keep our costs as low as possible to you, and do our best to offer both the weekend tickets and individual event tickets at a fair price.
We offer camping at Bude Rugby Club at cost (the price they charge us).
As a resort town, Bude offers plenty of accommodation, beautiful surfing beaches and the best view in the world from Compass Point to Lundy Island.
We hope you will consider making a visit to Bude & Stratton Folk Festival 2012, we promise you won't be disappointed!
PLEASE NOTE WE ARE PRETTY MUCH FIXED UP FOR ARTISTS FOR 2012,
SHOULD YOU WANT TO SEND INFO FOR 2013, WE WILL START LOOKING IN AUGUST, SO PLEASE GET APPLICATIONS IN BEFORE THEN.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE THAT WE DO NOT GET ANY GRANTS, WE DO NOT MAKE ANY PROFIT. WE RELY ON THE PREVIOUS YEAR'S FESTIVAL TAKINGS AND WHATEVER WE CAN RAISE THROUGHOUT THE PRECEEDING YEAR TO PAY FOR EACH YEAR'S FESTIVAL. WE ONLY BOOK WHAT WE KNOW WE CAN AFFORD TO PAY FOR.
