Ministerial Training

The Ministerial Training Committee will hold the 2009-2011 Pre-Ordination (Tokudo) Training Program in April, 2009. The Committee will solicit statewide support from ministers and Kyodan leaders to recruit candidates for 2011Honzan Ordination Program from both within and outside of the Hawaii Kyodan.  For more information please contact your temple headquarters or email us.The Pre-Ordination Training Program will be carried out per the following timeline: 

      May, 2009 

      • Inform local temple ministers and leaders of 2011 Honzan Ordination Program (Tokudo Shurai) for over-sea district candidates.
      • Solicit members who will pursue 2011 Honzan Ordination Program through May and June issues of HQ’s Update and local temple newsletters, and Website.
 

      May, 2009  

      • Ministerial Training Committee updates and develops the curriculum of Pre-Ordination Training Program.
 

      November, 2009

      • Orientation for ministers sharing the contents of the Pre-Tokudo Training Program during the Ministers’ Continuing Education.
      • Ministerial Training Committee holds Preliminary Informational Session.
 Informational Session on Pre-Tokudo Training will be  January 30,2010 1p.m. at the BSC
Presentation will answer questions on: What is Tokudo and Kiyoshi
                                                        Contents of Pre-Tokudo Training
                                                        Responsibilities of Hongwanji ministers
                                                        Testimonies from ministers
                                                        meet the Ministerial Training Committee members
 

      April, 2010   

      • Start Local Pre-Ordination Training Program (one year program).
Pre-Tokudo candidates for Tokudo have been announced please see March Metta for details

      April, 2011

      • Start State Pre-Ordination Training Program at BSC (two months program).
      • Screening of candidates by Bishop
 

      Fall, 2011

      • Send candidates to Kyoto for Honzan Ordination Program.
