A Tragedy Strikes in Haiti  by KG and RM

A tragedy happened in Haiti on January 12, 2010 at 4:53pm.They had a major earthquake that left 3 million people in need of emergency aid. The USGS said that it was the strongest quake since 1770 in Haiti. Haiti happens to be the poorest country in the western hemisphere. The Red Cross has sent the World's Food Program, filling more than two planes. This is why Haiti needs both you and me to help them survive. If we don’t act now, thousands of boys and girls in Haiti might lose a parent or even worse. People might not think Haiti is important because it’s so small and it's so far away that people don’t even care. How would you feel if you went to bed always afraid that you might not wake up in the morning because of a quake? People right now are living under plastic tarps afraid to sleep inside. Millions of people have lost their jobs because the buildings were destroyed. They don’t even have a place to go to the bathroom! Now you know why they need us. So please help Haiti now!
