Youth Kiddush

The synagogue provides snacks and/or kiddush for all of our groups, each time they meet.  Parents are also welcome to sponsor kiddush for the group(s) in which their child(ren) participate, in honor of special occasions, such as birthdays.  If you'd like to sponsor a kiddush, please contact the Director of Youth Services or the the group leader identified here.  Sponsorship is on an in-kind basis, and parents are asked to consider the following guidelines:
  • All food (other than raw, whole fruits and vegetables) is required to have a hechsher (kosher certification symbol) that appears on this list: http://www.crcweb.org/agency_list.php.  Please note that the shul does not accept Triangle-K or Tablet-K certification.
  • All food packages are required to be unopened.
  • All food preparation (from cutting up fruits and vegetables to baking) must occur at the shul.  (We don't except anyone to come to the shul to bake anything, but the point is that families cannot bake a cake at home, for example, and bring it to the shul.)
  • If possible, the food should be dropped off before Shabbat.  It may be left in the downstairs kitchen, inside of a bag indicating the sponsor's name, and the date and name of the group for which it is intended (e.g. Torah Tots Kiddush - Smith - May 4).  Perishable food may be placed in the refrigerator or freezer, as necessary (with the proper labeling).
  • The majority of equipment and utensils in the kitchen belongs to the Early Childhood Center, and is not permitted to be used for youth group kiddushim.  In general, only items in the cabinets labeled "Torah Tots" may be used for youth groups.  When it doubt, please ask a parent or teen volunteer, who will be there to help prepare and serve the food.
  • For those sponsoring Torah Tots (mostly for children six and under), we ask for two to three kinds of food, one preferably healthy, like a fruit or veggie, and enough for about 40 kids. The shul provides juice and fish balls.
If you have any questions, please contact the Director of Youth Services.

Thank you for supporting our youth groups!
